Curél Intensive Moisture Care Moisture Facial Milk (キュレル 潤浸保湿 乳液) is Kao’s face milk, or emulsion, for dry, sensitive skin, which you apply after toner. In Japan it is a medicated quasi-drug with allantoin as its active ingredient to prevent rough skin, plus Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract for moisture. Kao describes it as absorbing easily and feeling moist but not sticky, and it comes in a 120 mL pump bottle and a 100 mL refill.

Key Ingredients in Curel Face Milk
The face milk’s main ingredients are Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract for moisture, and allantoin as the active ingredient. Kao says these moisturising ingredients reach deep into the stratum corneum (the outer layer of skin) to keep it plump, moist and less prone to rough patches from external irritation.
Cetyl-PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide
Kao’s “ceramide functioning ingredient”, which Kao says supplements the work of ceramides and moisturises.
Eucalyptus extract
A plant extract that Kao lists as a moisturising ingredient.
Allantoin
The active ingredient, an anti-inflammatory that helps prevent rough skin.
Squalane and cholesterol
Emollients that soften skin; the squalane is labelled as sugar squalane.
Curel Face Milk Full Ingredient List
Curel face milk lists 18 ingredients on Kao’s Japanese site, with allantoin first as the active ingredient. The preservative is paraben. It contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which are fatty alcohols used to thicken creams and milks, not the ethyl alcohol that Kao says it leaves out.

How to Use Curel Face Milk
Use Curel face milk after toner: Kao recommends 3 to 4 pumps into your palm. If you use a serum, apply the milk after it, as Kao’s travel-size set instructions say.
- After toner, such as Curel lotion, pump 3 to 4 times into your palm.
- Dot it on five points: both cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, with a third on each cheek and the rest on the T-zone.
- Spread it lightly, then smooth it outwards from the centre of your face with the warmth of your hands.
- Smooth it over your forehead from the centre outwards, then down your nose and around your mouth, and finish around your eyes.
- Layer a little more on any areas that feel especially dry.
Kao’s label says not to use it on cuts, swellings, eczema or other abnormal skin, and to stop and see a dermatologist if you notice redness, swelling, itching or other irritation. Keep it out of your eyes.
For a serum to use before this milk, see our Curel serum guide.
For oily or acne-prone skin, see our Curel Sebum Trouble Care guide.
Curel Face Milk vs Cream: Which Should You Use?
The difference is texture: Kao describes the face milk as absorbing easily and moist but not sticky, and the cream as very moist but light, and suggests the cream if dryness concerns you. Both have allantoin as the active ingredient plus the ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract. You can also use both: Kao says you can layer the cream over the milk on dry areas, and Kao Singapore says that if you use the milk regularly, you can add the cream for areas especially prone to dryness.

Shop on kachicollectCurel Face Milk FAQ
Is Curel face milk an emulsion?
Yes. Curel face milk is an emulsion (乳液): in Japanese skincare, a milk or emulsion is a light, milky moisturiser that you apply after toner to keep moisture in. Curel face milk is that step in Kao’s Intensive Moisture Care line.
Is Curel face milk alcohol-free?
Kao labels it alcohol-free, meaning no ethyl alcohol. The ingredient list does include cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which are fatty alcohols used for texture.
Is Curel face milk fragrance-free?
Yes. Kao labels it fragrance-free and colorant-free.
Is Curel face milk paraben-free?
No. Paraben is listed as the preservative.
Does Curel face milk contain ceramides?
It contains Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient, cetyl-PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide, which Kao says supplements the work of ceramides. Kao describes it as a ceramide functioning ingredient rather than a ceramide.
Is Curel face milk good for oily skin?
Kao Singapore says Curél products can be used on normal and oily skin, although Curél is made for dry, sensitive skin. Kao describes the face milk as moist but not sticky.
Is Curel face milk good for sensitive skin?
Kao made it for dry, sensitive skin, and says it was allergy-tested and patch-tested with people who have dry, sensitive skin. That doesn’t mean no one will react, so test it on a small area first if your skin reacts easily.
Is Curel face milk the same as Curel Moisture Milk?
No. Kao Singapore sells a body care Moisture Milk, which it says can be used on any part of the body, including the face, and gives the same level of moisture as the Moisture Face Milk. The face milk in this guide is the one in the facial Intensive Moisture Care line.
Is Curel face milk the same in Japan and the US?
Not exactly. The US Moisture Facial Milk (4 oz) lists 19 ingredients, including bis-methoxypropylamido isodocosane, which is not in the 18-ingredient list on Kao’s Japanese site. The milk sold in Japan is a quasi-drug with allantoin as its active ingredient, so check the Japanese name (キュレル 潤浸保湿 乳液) if you want it.
Is Curel face milk the same as Curel UV Protection Face Milk?
No. The UV Protection Face Milk is a sunscreen milk, which Kao Singapore describes as silky-light and suitable for those who perspire easily. The face milk in this guide is a moisturiser without UV protection.
For Curél’s sunscreens, including the UV Protection Milk, see our Curel sunscreen guide.
How long does a bottle of Curel face milk last?
Kao Singapore says each Curél product lasts about 1 to 1½ months at the recommended amount, which for the face milk is 3 to 4 pumps each time.
Conclusion: Who Is Curel Face Milk For?
Curel face milk suits people with dry, sensitive skin who want a light, non-sticky moisturiser after toner: it combines Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract with allantoin to prevent rough skin, in a weakly acidic, fragrance-free formula with no ethyl alcohol. If your skin feels very dry, choose the face cream instead, or add it on dry areas over the milk.
