Japanese magazines are sold with real branded goods attached, and October 2026 brings a particularly strong run of character collaborations – Hello Kitty embroidered totes, Peanuts outdoor bags, a Moomin diary, and a handful of stranger things besides.
Below is every character furoku released in Japan during October 2026, listed by release date, with what each one actually contains. None of these are distributed outside Japan, and the popular ones sell out within days.
Why Japanese magazine months don’t match the calendar
One thing to understand before reading the list. Japanese magazines carry a cover month that runs ahead of the actual release – the issues coming out in October 2026 are almost all labelled November 2026.
This catches out almost everyone buying from abroad. Searching for “the October issue” of a Japanese magazine will find you something that went on sale in early September and has largely sold out. The dates below are actual release dates, which is what matters if you want to buy.
The three to watch this month
Otona no Oshare Techo, 7 October – Hello Kitty drawstring tote. Currently the single most anticipated furoku of the month in Japan. It is a 41cm square drawstring tote with heavy embroidery and a raised velvet-effect appliqué for the Hello Kitty motif and logo, plus a London bus print. At that size it swallows magazines, folders and the oversized fan boards used at concerts.
Otona no Oshare Techo supplementary edition, 7 October – Hello Kitty tote and pouch set. Same magazine, same day, different gift: a two-piece set rather than the single large bag. The two editions are separate products and both are in the top three of Japan’s pre-release rankings.
InRed supplementary edition, 7 October – Peanuts × Wild Things charm and mini pouch. A face-shaped charm and a matching mini pouch that clip to a bag or a phone. Usable together or separately, and the sort of small item that tends to disappear fastest.

2 October – MOE: Moomin Diary 2027

© Moomin Characters
MOE is a monthly devoted to picture books and illustration, published by Hakusensha, and its annual Moomin diary is one of the longest-running character furoku in Japan. The 2027 edition arrives with the November issue.
Moomin has a following well beyond Japan, but this diary is a Japanese-market product designed for the Japanese publishing calendar, and it is not sold through Moomin’s own retail channels anywhere.
6 October – Yoshitake Shinsuke room light

© Takarajimasha, Inc.
Yoshitake Shinsuke is one of Japan’s most recognisable contemporary picture-book authors, known for wry, slightly absurd drawings about everyday anxieties. This brand book comes with an acrylic room light built around one of his creations.
It is an unusual entry in the character category – closer to an art object than merchandise – and a good example of how far the furoku format stretches beyond bags and pouches.
7 October – Otona no Oshare Techo: Hello Kitty
Two editions go on sale the same day with different gifts, which is standard practice for this title and the single most common source of confusion when ordering from abroad.

The standard edition carries the large drawstring tote: 41cm square with a 60cm handle, in this season’s burgundy, with a velvet-effect three-dimensional appliqué for the Hello Kitty character and logo and a large London bus print. At that size it takes magazines, folders and concert fan boards. Cover price ¥1,780.

The supplementary edition carries a two-piece set instead: a tote measuring roughly 36.5 × 31cm that folds down into its own pouch, plus a leather-look pouch modelled on a tomato tin, 13.5 × 10.5cm, with a ball chain so it doubles as a bag charm. Cover price ¥1,690.
If you want a specific one, match the gift description rather than the month.
7 October – InRed: Peanuts × Wild Things

InRed also publishes two editions on the same day. The standard edition gift is a shoulder bag made with water-repellent treatment and sealed seam tape, designed for rainy-day use rather than as a fashion piece. The supplementary edition carries a face-shaped strap charm and a mini pouch, usable as a set or separately, attachable to either a bag or a phone.
Wild Things is an American outdoor brand, and this Peanuts crossover exists only as an InRed furoku – it is not in either brand’s catalogue.
9 October – sweet: Esther Bunny

© Esther Bunny
Esther Bunny is a long-running illustrated rabbit character with a strong following among younger readers in Japan and Korea. The standard edition of sweet includes a tote bag with an acrylic keyring, alongside a double-sided A3 pin-up. The supplementary edition swaps these for a phone grip and a set of puffy stickers, with a different pin-up.
Worth noting: sweet bundles idol pin-ups with its gifts, so the two editions differ in both the character item and the pin-up subject.
9 October – mini: Myaku-Myaku calendar

© Expo 2025
Myaku-Myaku is the official mascot of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai – a red and blue creature covered in eyes that became an unexpected national favourite. The November issue of mini comes with a 365-day tear-off calendar featuring the character, described by the publisher as a first for the magazine.
15 October – Chairoikoguma 10th Anniversary BOOK

© San-X Co.
Chairoikoguma is the small brown bear introduced into the Rilakkuma family, and 2026 marks ten years since the character’s debut. The anniversary book comes with a hanging plush charm.
Anniversary releases are consistently among the harder furoku to obtain later, since the collaboration is tied to a single year and is not repeated.
15 October – Hysteric Mini bags and straps

© HYSTERIC MINI
Hysteric Mini is a Japanese kidswear label whose Angel Mini print has a substantial adult following. Two separate books arrive the same day.
The 3ROOM Shoulder Bag BOOK comes with a three-compartment shoulder bag and is published in three colourways – white, black and monogram – each as its own book. The 2WAY Shoulder Strap BOOK comes with an adjustable strap that works either as a phone strap or a bag strap, published in white and black. The publisher suggests pairing a strap with a bag in the matching print.
22 October – Aunt Stella’s Cookies acrylic light

© Aunt Stella’s
Aunt Stella’s is a Japanese cookie brand whose Dancing Stella logo character is widely recognised domestically. The brand book comes with an acrylic light built around that character – a straightforward piece of brand merchandise that exists only in this format.
Want any of these shipped to you?
kachicollect ships Japan-only magazines and their gifts direct from Japan – prices in your currency, duties estimated before checkout, no agent fees. If an issue isn’t in our catalogue, send us the link to any Japanese marketplace listing and we’ll quote it within 48 hours, with no service fee.
How to buy these from outside Japan
Every item on this list is a Japanese-market product with no overseas distribution, and none of the gifts are sold separately from their magazine. Popular titles sell out within days of release, so deciding before the on-sale date works far better than looking afterwards.
Note also how many of these come in two editions with different gifts on the same day. When ordering, match the gift description rather than the cover month. For a full comparison of the routes available – direct shops, proxy services, marketplace resellers and local bookstores – see our guide to where to buy Japanese magazines with gifts online.
Coming in November
The first confirmed November release is kodomoe’s December issue on 2 November, carrying a large Noraneko Gundan outing tote alongside two picture books and a calendar. We’ll publish the full November list as the announcements land.
