Curél Deep Moisture Spray (キュレル ディープモイスチャースプレー) is Kao’s face and body mist for dry, sensitive skin: a medicated quasi-drug with allantoin as its active ingredient to prevent rough skin, plus Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract for moisture. Kao says one spray keeps skin moist and soft, and that you can use it on your face, on hard-to-reach areas such as your back, over makeup and on children’s delicate skin. It comes in 250 g, 150 g and 60 g cans. Because it is an aerosol, Kao classes all three sizes as dangerous goods for air transport, which affects how you can buy it from abroad.

Key Ingredients in Curel Deep Moisture Spray

The spray’s main ingredients are Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient, made into fine particles, and eucalyptus extract for moisture, with allantoin as the active ingredient. Kao says the fine ceramide functioning ingredient reaches deep into the stratum corneum (the outer layer of skin) and keeps skin moist and soft with one spray.

Cetyl-PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide

Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient, in fine particles, which Kao says supplements the work of ceramides.

Eucalyptus extract

A plant extract that Kao lists as a moisturising ingredient.

Allantoin

The active ingredient, an anti-inflammatory that helps prevent rough skin.

Glycerin and cholesterol

A humectant and an emollient that help keep skin moist.

Curel Deep Moisture Spray Full Ingredient List

Curel Deep Moisture Spray lists 14 ingredients on Kao’s Japanese site, with allantoin first as the active ingredient. The preservative is phenoxyethanol, and the can is pressurised with nitrogen gas.

How to Use Curel Deep Moisture Spray (Face and Body Mist)

Hold the can about 20 cm from your skin, spray in circles, then press it in with your palms. You don’t need to shake it first, and Kao says it also sprays with the can upside down, which helps for your back.

  1. On your face, close your eyes and mouth, hold the can about 20 cm away and spray in circles over your whole face.
  2. Press it in with your whole palms: the inner cheeks and eye area, the outer cheeks and eye area, then your forehead and around your mouth.
  3. Over makeup, spray lightly onto both cheeks and your forehead from about 20 cm, pressing the button from top to bottom, so the mist falls softly.
  4. On your body, spray hard-to-reach areas such as your back and lower back, for example after a bath.

Kao’s label says not to inhale the mist directly or spray for a long time, to spray it onto your own hands first before applying it to a child’s face, and not to use it on cuts, swellings, eczema or other abnormal skin. It isn’t designed for hair or scalp. Wipe up any spray on the floor, as it makes it slippery, and keep the can below 40°C and away from heaters and bathroom dryer vents.

Can You Use Curel Deep Moisture Spray Instead of Toner?

Yes. Kao says the spray can be used instead of toner, or as a pre-toner before your toner, whichever you prefer. If you use it with other skincare, Kao recommends spraying it first, after cleansing or after a bath, then following with your toner, serum, milk or cream. Unlike the spray, Curel lotion is a bottled toner that Kao doesn’t class as air-transport dangerous goods. Products to follow with include Curel lotion, a Curel serum, Curel face milk or Curel Intensive Moisture Cream.

Can You Ship or Fly With Curel Deep Moisture Spray?

Only with care: Kao classes all three sizes of Curel Deep Moisture Spray as dangerous goods under Japan’s air transport rules because they are aerosols, so international airmail may not accept them. Ask us on WhatsApp before ordering it, and on international flights pack it in checked baggage.

If you are flying, Kao says that on domestic flights in Japan the spray can go in your carry-on or checked bag (up to 0.5 kg or 0.5 L per can and 2 kg or 2 L per person). On international flights it must go in checked baggage: even the 60 g size can’t go in the cabin, because the whole can is larger than 100 mL.

Where to Buy Curel Deep Moisture Spray

The easiest way to get Curél skincare is to order it shipped directly from Japan through kachicollect. Because the Deep Moisture Spray is air-transport dangerous goods, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering it. If it can’t be sent to you, Curél’s non-aerosol products, such as the lotion, are not classed as dangerous goods, according to Kao.

Proxy services that buy from Japanese stores on your behalf are another option, but the service fee they advertise is only the starting point, and various other charges are added on top by the time you check out.

Curel Deep Moisture Spray FAQ

Can I use Curel Deep Moisture Spray on my face?

Yes. Kao says it is for both face and body. Close your eyes and mouth, spray from about 20 cm, and press it in with your palms.

Can I use Curel Deep Moisture Spray over makeup?

Yes. Kao says you can spray it lightly over makeup on your cheeks and forehead from about 20 cm away.

Do I need to shake Curel Deep Moisture Spray?

No. Kao says you don’t need to shake the can, and shaking doesn’t change how the mist comes out.

Can I use Curel Deep Moisture Spray on babies and children?

Kao says it can be used on children’s delicate skin. For a child’s face, spray it onto your hands first and apply it from there, rather than spraying it directly.

Can I use Curel Deep Moisture Spray on my hair or scalp?

Kao doesn’t recommend it, because the spray isn’t designed for hair or scalp. Use it on your face and body.

Is Curel Deep Moisture Spray alcohol-free?

Yes. Kao’s product page lists it as fragrance-free and colorant-free, and the Curél brand page lists it as alcohol-free (no ethyl alcohol).

Which size should I choose?

Kao calls the 60 g can its portable size; the 150 g and 250 g cans are larger sizes of the same spray.

Can I take Curel Deep Moisture Spray on a plane?

On international flights it must go in checked baggage, because even the 60 g can is over 100 mL in total volume. On domestic flights in Japan it can go in carry-on or checked bags, according to Kao.

Does Curel Deep Moisture Spray contain ceramides?

Its ingredient list doesn’t include ceramides by name. It uses Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient, cetyl-PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide, which Kao says supplements the work of ceramides.

Conclusion: Who Is Curel Deep Moisture Spray For?

Curel Deep Moisture Spray suits people with dry, sensitive skin who want quick moisture for both face and body, including hard-to-reach areas and touch-ups over makeup: it combines Kao’s ceramide functioning ingredient and eucalyptus extract with allantoin to prevent rough skin, in a weakly acidic, fragrance-free formula with no ethyl alcohol. Use it first after cleansing, or instead of toner.
