Hello Kitty is sold all over the world, but a large share of her collaborations never leaves Japan. In September 2026 alone, Japanese retailers and brands released more than a dozen Hello Kitty lines, from a Shimamura collection with a Japanese actor to a Don Quijote car accessory series and a drugstore powder in limited packaging. Almost none of them appear on Sanrio’s official stores outside Japan.
This guide lists every Japan-exclusive Hello Kitty collab announced by Sanrio for September 2026, with the release date, the chain or brand selling it, and the prices the brand published. At the end, we explain how to get these items if you live outside Japan.

Shop on kachicollectWhy These Hello Kitty Collabs Never Reach Sanrio Stores Abroad
Almost every item on this list is a licensed product. Sanrio licenses Hello Kitty to a Japanese company, that company manufactures the goods, and it sells them through its own stores. The collection belongs to Shimamura, Don Quijote or Isehan rather than to Sanrio, so it never enters the catalog that Sanrio’s regional stores draw from.
Sanrio’s own online stores are also split by region, and each one ships only within its own area. The one store that ships from Japan to other countries carries a much smaller catalog, and it doesn’t stock retailer collaborations at all. For the full picture, see our guide to Japan-exclusive Sanrio merchandise.
Most of these releases are also limited in quantity, sold at one chain only, or dropped online at a fixed time on release day. The Japanese online stores that carry them, such as Shimamura Park, deliver within Japan only.

John Masters Organics × Hello Kitty Combo Paddle Brush

The organic cosmetics brand John Masters Organics brought back its Hello Kitty hairbrush as a limited-quantity revival on 1 September, with the online store opening at noon the same day. The design lines up Hello Kitty, Tiny Chum and Mimmy along the handle, and the full-size Combo Paddle Brush is ¥4,950 while the mini version is ¥4,400. It’s sold at the brand’s directly run stores across Japan and on its Japanese online store, and some stores will engrave the brush for you.
Hobonichi Techo 2027 × Hello Kitty Classic

Hobonichi’s 2027 planner lineup went on sale at 11:00 on 1 September, and the Hello Kitty collaboration runs to 17 items based on the 1970s “Hello Kitty Classic” artwork. It covers planner covers in A6 (¥4,290) and A5 (¥5,390), the Weeks planner in Japanese (¥3,520) and English (¥3,630), plus pencil boards, sticky notes, clear folders, a pen case and stickers from ¥550. The collection is sold on Hobonichi’s online store, at its Tokyo Station and TOBICHI shops, and at Loft stores around Japan.
JR West Station Shops × Hello Kitty

JR West runs a group of variety shops inside its stations, and on 2 September they released a Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel collection that Sanrio describes as available only there. The lineup covers T-shirts at ¥3,850, embroidered socks at ¥1,650, handkerchiefs at ¥1,320 and charm straps at ¥2,420. It’s stocked at 24 shops under the Episode, Iicotto, Kokoshka and La Palette names, and on Episode Online from noon on release day.
Takarajimasha HELLO KITTY Plush Charm BOOK

Japanese publishers sell “mooks” that are really a branded item with a short booklet attached, and this one is built around a suntanned Hello Kitty plush charm hugging a shell, with a pearl and a star on her ears. The charm is roughly 11 cm tall by 13 cm wide, comes with a ball chain, and the book is ¥3,498. It was released on 4 September at bookstores across Japan and on Takarajima Channel. If you like this format, our guide to Japanese magazines with free gifts explains how it works.
Shimamura × Ken Matsudaira × Hello Kitty

This is the most Japanese release of the month. Ken Matsudaira is a veteran actor and singer known in Japan for his samba stage act, and on 5 September the clothing chain Shimamura paired him with Hello Kitty across 11 product types, each in two designs. Prices run from ¥209 freezer bags and ¥649 melamine cups to ¥1,419 tissue pouches and a ¥2,189 tote bag with a charm, and the collection also appeared on Shimamura Park, the chain’s Japanese online store, at 15:00 on release day. Stock varies by store.
Avail × Hello Kitty Animal Print

Avail is Shimamura’s sister chain, and it put out its own Hello Kitty range in animal prints on 5 September, alongside goods for other Sanrio characters. The collection is sold at Avail stores and on Shimamura Park from noon on release day, though five branches are excluded. Sanrio announced the lineup in photos without a price list.
3carat Hello Kitty Bag Key Clip

3carat makes small accessories finished by jewelry craftsmen, and its bag key clip clamps onto a bag pocket so your keys stay within reach. The Hello Kitty version came out in September in two retro designs, one with an airplane and one with an apple, at ¥3,740 each. It’s sold at fancy shops around Japan and on 3carat’s own online store, and the key itself isn’t included.
Sanrio Sports Autumn Collection

Sanrio Sports is run by Sanrio’s own group company and leans heavily towards golf. The autumn drop arrived on 9 September with a second wave on 25 September, and the Hello Kitty pieces include a hooded zip vest, a mock neck shirt, a quilted cap and visor, a ribbon ball pouch, a driver head cover and a cart bag. Prices across the collection run from ¥2,200 to ¥22,000, and it’s sold on Sanrio’s Japanese online shop and on the World online store.
Samantha Thavasa × Hello Kitty Houndstooth

The bag brand Samantha Thavasa released a houndstooth collection with Hello Kitty and Tiny Chum artwork on 11 September, with some stores selling it earlier. The range covers handbags, shoulder bags, a backpack, wallets and bag charms, sold at Samantha Thavasa stores in Japan and on its Japanese online shop. Sanrio’s announcement showed the lineup in photos without prices.
CRONOS × Hello Kitty

CRONOS is a Japanese activity wear brand, and its second Sanrio collaboration went on sale at 11:00 on 12 September. The lineup is unisex and covers T-shirts, socks and mascot keychains in red and black. It’s sold at CRONOS stores across Japan and on the brand’s official online store.
ROOTOTE × Hello Kitty Tartan Check

The tote bag brand ROOTOTE put a Hello Kitty face embroidery on a classic tartan check for autumn, in two sizes and three colors each. The Baby Roo size is ¥5,940 and the larger Deli size is ¥6,380, both in navy, red and green. The collection went on sale in September through ROOTOTE’s Japanese online stores.
Don Quijote Hello Kitty and Kuromi Car Accessories

Don Quijote is Japan’s best-known discount chain, and this five-piece “pastel leopard” series is sold only at its group stores. It covers a multi pocket at ¥1,980, a dust box and a multi tray at ¥1,870 each, a neck pillow at ¥2,420 and a cushion at ¥2,530, with each item made in a Hello Kitty and a Kuromi version. The series was on sale in September, though the chain notes that the timing shifts slightly from store to store.
Evangelion × Hello Kitty at Shimamura Park

Shimamura’s second Hello Kitty release of the month is an anime crossover, with Kitty dressed as Evangelion characters on pullovers and blousons. It launched at 15:00 on 19 September and is sold only on Shimamura Park, the chain’s Japanese online store, with no stock in physical Shimamura stores. Sanrio announced the lineup without prices.
genten × Hello Kitty Leather Goods

The leather brand genten worked with Hello Kitty for the first time this September, with a six-piece range that includes a face-shaped pouch, a house-shaped key crochet and three charms. One charm shows Kitty in blue overalls holding a miniature genten bag, and another has her hugging Tiny Chum. It’s sold at genten stores in Japan and on the brand’s official online shop, and Sanrio’s announcement didn’t list prices.
Kiss Me Ferme × Hello Kitty Powder

Kiss Me Ferme is a drugstore makeup line from the Japanese cosmetics maker Isehan, and it wrapped three of its powders in limited Hello Kitty packaging. The early release started on 25 September at AEON, Welcia and Tsuruha stores, with the nationwide launch at drugstores and supermarkets set for 11 November. Quantities are limited, and Sanrio’s announcement didn’t publish prices.

Shop on kachicollectHow to Buy Japan-Exclusive Hello Kitty Collabs From Outside Japan
Order From the kachicollect Catalog
kachicollect is a Japan-based shop that only carries products made for the Japanese market, so the easiest place to start is the catalog itself. It already lists Hello Kitty items you can’t buy at home, including the Tangle Teezer × Hello Kitty Compact Styler brush, the Hello Kitty charms and die-cut stickers sold only through Yamato Transport’s Japanese shop, and the Coleman × HELLO KITTY tote and pouch that come with the October issue of InRed.
You pay the listed price plus shipping, with no proxy fees, and the total including duties is shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is in your local currency by Visa, Mastercard or JCB, so you don’t need a Japanese address or card, and orders ship worldwide with tracking in about 7 to 14 days. Our roundup of the latest character magazine gifts covers the InRed bags in more detail.
Request Anything That Isn’t in the Catalog
Most of the September collabs above are sold through a single Japanese chain, so they won’t be in the catalog. If you want one of them, send us the product link from a Japanese marketplace and you’ll get an instant quote, then buy it directly on kachicollect with no service fees. The same applies to anything else you find, including listings on Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions.
eBay
Japan-exclusive Hello Kitty items show up on eBay after release, usually at a reseller markup that grows with how fast the item sold out. Counterfeit Sanrio goods are also common there, and listing photos make them hard to spot. If you do buy this way, check the seller’s feedback and ask for photos of the actual item, its tags and its packaging.
Amazon
Amazon is the other default, but limited-run retailer collabs rarely reach it. What you find is usually listed by third-party sellers rather than the brand, which means a markup and no guarantee the item is genuine. Stock also disappears quickly once the Japanese release sells out.
Tips Before You Buy
Move fast on online drops. Several of these went live at a set time on release day, such as 11:00 for Hobonichi and 15:00 for Shimamura Park, and popular items sell out the same day.
Expect stock to vary by store. Shimamura, Avail and Don Quijote all state that availability differs between branches, and some branches are excluded from a collection entirely.
Check the sizing on apparel. The T-shirts, hoodies and pullovers here are cut to Japanese sizes, which usually run smaller than US or European equivalents.
Read the release date carefully. A September release isn’t always the full launch. The Kiss Me Ferme powders started at three drugstore groups on 25 September but don’t reach the rest of Japan until 11 November.
Remember that Japanese online stores stay in Japan. Shimamura Park, Sanrio’s Japanese online shop and most brand stores on this list deliver within Japan only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy Shimamura or Don Quijote Hello Kitty items from outside Japan?
Not from the chains themselves. Shimamura Park delivers within Japan, and Don Quijote’s collaboration goods are sold in its Japanese stores. You can still get them by sending us the product link on kachicollect.
Why aren’t these collabs on Sanrio’s global store?
They’re licensed products made by Japanese companies for their own stores, so they don’t enter the catalog that Sanrio’s regional online stores sell from. Sanrio’s stores outside Japan carry their own separate ranges.
How long do Japan-exclusive Hello Kitty collabs stay in stock?
It varies, but most are produced in limited quantities and are not restocked. Popular designs can sell out within days, and cosmetics collaborations in particular are usually one production run.
Are these the same as the Hello Kitty items sold in the US or Europe?
No. These collections are designed for Japanese retailers and sold only through them, so the designs, the partner brands and the sizes are different from what Sanrio’s stores carry abroad.
Conclusion
September 2026 shows how much of Hello Kitty stays inside Japan. A clothing chain, a discount chain, a planner maker, a leather brand and three drugstore groups each released their own Hello Kitty line, and every one of them is tied to stores that ship within Japan only.
The simplest way in is the kachicollect catalog.
