Melano CC Men serum is a 20 mL medicated serum with four actives: pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl), which Rohto lists as a sebum-control ingredient, salicylic acid to soften the outer layer of skin, and isopropyl methylphenol as an antibacterial. Rohto says it helps prevent dark spots and pimples and targets pore concerns, and that it added salicylic acid because men’s skin tends to produce more sebum, clogs pores more easily and has a thicker outer layer than women’s.

Melano CC Men Gel

Melano CC Men gel is a 100 g medicated gel moisturiser that Rohto says locks moisture in over your toner, with a smooth, non-sticky feel made with oily skin in mind. Its actives are a vitamin C derivative (ascorbyl glucoside), an anti-inflammatory (dipotassium glycyrrhizate) and a blood-circulation promoter (tocopheryl acetate), and Rohto says it helps prevent pimples and dark spots and targets pore concerns. It costs ¥1,210 on Rohto’s online shop.

Rohto’s ingredient pages list the same ingredients for the Men gel and the regular Melano CC brightening gel, and its FAQ names the scent as the difference: the Men gel has a fresh lemon scent. Melano CC Men Routine

A simple Melano CC Men routine is lotion, then serum, then gel, morning and night. Rohto recommends using these medicated products morning and night, and suggests the lotion and gel after washing or shaving.

1. Wash: wash your face, for example with the Melano CC face wash.
2. Lotion: take an appropriate amount of the Men lotion on your palm or a cotton pad and pat it in gently, as Rohto instructs.
3. Serum: apply the Men serum to the areas you’re concerned about or your whole face.
4. Gel: finish with the Men gel to lock in moisture.

Rohto’s FAQ also recommends avoiding areas with active pimples, and says results vary from person to person, with 4 to 6 weeks of continued use recommended. Vitamin C can stain some fabrics and cotton pads pink, so rinse at once if it gets on your clothes.

Melano CC Men is not just regular Melano CC with a different scent. Rohto’s current ingredient lists show that the Men lotion and Men serum use different actives aimed at oily skin, including salicylic acid, while the Men gel has the same ingredients as the regular gel.
