The mist lotion is a medicated spray toner with three actives, a vitamin C derivative (ascorbyl glucoside), dipotassium glycyrrhizate and salicylic acid, and a citrus scent. Rohto says it can be sprayed upside down and used on the body too. Rohto classes it as dangerous goods under Japan’s air transport rules, so it may not be possible to send it by international airmail; all the other Melano CC products are not classed as dangerous goods, according to Rohto.

How to Build a Melano CC Routine

To build a Melano CC routine, use the products in Rohto’s recommended order: face wash, lotion (toner), sheet mask, serum, then gel, cream or milk, with the UV milk last in the morning. Rohto says you don’t need to use the whole line: adding one Melano CC item to your usual routine is enough to give the areas you’re concerned about focused care.

Rohto-Mentholatum group companies sell Melano CC outside Japan under English names, and their line-ups, claims and formulas can differ from the range sold in Japan. For example, some overseas ingredient lists show 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, the vitamin C derivative Rohto used in the Japanese lotion before its 2025 renewal.
