KATE Lipstick and Lip Makeup
KATE’s lipstick is Lip Monster (リップモンスター), a long-wear lipstick sold in Japan in six versions, from the original stick to glossy, matte and sheer finishes. KATE also sells a tinted lip balm and a lip primer.
Lip Monster
KATE Lip Monster (リップモンスター) is KATE’s best-known product: a long-wear lipstick that, according to KATE, turns into a close-fitting gel film using moisture from the lips, so the colour stays as you applied it. The original stick costs ¥1,540 for 3 g in Japan and comes in 24 shades, several of them web-exclusive or limited editions.

The Lip Monster name also covers glossy, matte, liquid and sheer versions: Super Glossy, Souffle Matte, Crystal Pod, Clear Tone and the limited Foggy Matte, at ¥1,540 to ¥1,650. See our KATE Lip Monster guide for how they compare, and our KATE Lip Monster shade guide for every colour and number.
Other KATE Lip Products
Beyond Lip Monster, KATE sells Personal Lip Cream (パーソナルリップクリーム, ¥550, 6 colours), a sheer tinted lip balm that KATE says adds a natural flush, and the web-only Lip Color Control Base (リップカラーコントロールベース, ¥1,320), a yellow lip primer that KATE says corrects dull lips so the lipstick on top shows its colour.
KATE Eye Makeup
KATE’s eye makeup range in Japan covers five eyeshadow lines, eight eyeliners, eight mascaras and six eyebrow products, priced from ¥605 to ¥1,650.
Eyeshadow
KATE sells five eyeshadow lines in Japan, from ¥715 to ¥1,650: The Eye Color singles, three four-colour palettes (Mellow Brown Eyes for sheer browns, Popping Silhouette Shadow for matte and glitter, and Bouncy Cheek Shadow for eyes and cheeks) and the two-texture Electric Shock Eyes. See our KATE eyeshadow guide.

The Eye Color
KATE The Eye Color (ザ アイカラー) is a single eyeshadow sold one shade at a time, so you can build your own palette. It comes in 108 shades across seven textures at ¥715 each (Marble Ink ¥770), and most regular shades are sold online only in Japan. See our KATE The Eye Color guide for every shade.

Eyeliner
KATE sells eight eyeliner lines in Japan, from ¥935 to ¥1,650: four liquids, including Super Sharp Liner EX4.0 (スーパーシャープライナーEX4.0) and Namida no Tsurugi Liner; three pencils, including Rare Fit Gel Pencil N; and the Manga Genic Liner powder palette. See our KATE eyeliner guide for shades and which are waterproof.

Mascara
KATE sells eight mascara lines in Japan, from ¥1,078 to ¥1,650: mascaras such as Lash Burst (ラッシュバースト) and Namida no Tate Mascara, bases and top coats such as Lash Maximizer Z, and the customisable My Custom Mascara. See our KATE mascara guide for which are waterproof or come off with warm water.

Eyebrow
KATE sells six eyebrow products in Japan, from ¥605 to ¥1,210, led by the Designing Eyebrow 3D (デザイニングアイブロウ3D) three-colour powder palette, which KATE says can also be used for nose shadow and eyeshadow. The range also includes three pencils, a pencil-and-powder duo and a brow mascara. See our KATE eyebrow guide and KATE Designing Eyebrow 3D guide.

KATE Blush and Contour
KATE currently sells two blush products in Japan: Slim Create Cheeks (スリムクリエイトチークス, ¥1,430), a two-colour blush with a brush, and Bouncy Cheek Shadow (バウンシーチークシャドウ, ¥1,650), made to be worn from the eyes to the cheeks.
Slim Create Cheeks pairs a glowy highlight colour with a deeper blush colour, in 2 types, one of them web-only. Bouncy Cheek Shadow is a four-colour palette covered in our KATE eyeshadow guide.
For contour, Real Shade Stick (リアルシェードスティック, ¥1,650) is a shading stick in a sheer, blue-tinged shadow colour that KATE says creates natural-looking shadows, and 3D Create Nuance Powder (¥1,540) combines highlight and shading powders with a brush; see our KATE powder guide.
KATE Base Makeup
KATE’s base makeup in Japan runs from primer to setting spray: primers, seven foundations plus the new Jelly Cushion Foundation, two concealers, five face powders and the Make Top Coat setting spray, at ¥880 to ¥2,970.
Primer
KATE’s primers cost ¥1,540 to ¥1,980 in Japan: Poreless Keeper (ポアレスキーパー) in three types for dry, combination and oily skin, the tone-up Snow Skin Base, and Jelly Primer, with a Jelly Serum Primer added in October 2026. See our KATE primer guide.

Foundation
KATE sells seven foundations in Japan, from ¥1,540 to ¥2,530: the Jelly Foundation and Jelly Liquid Foundation from its Jellyfish in the Moonlight (月夜の海月) line, Airy Change Liquid, Virtual Skin Maker, Cover Shield Powder Foundation, the web-exclusive Rare Paint Foundation N and The BB. The same line adds the Jelly Cushion Foundation (ジュレリープクッションファンデーション, ¥2,970, SPF50+ PA++++, 4 shades), listed on Kao’s official shop from October 2026. See our KATE foundation guide.

Concealer
KATE sells two concealers in Japan. Jelly Concealer (ジュレリープコンシーラー, ¥1,650) from the Jellyfish in the Moonlight line is a liquid concealer with a teardrop-shaped tip in 9 colours, including skin tones and colour correctors, plus a clear type for adding shine. Stick Concealer A (スティックコンシーラーA, ¥880, 2 colours) is a stick that KATE says sticks closely to cover spots and blemish marks without feeling tacky.
Powder
KATE makes five face powders in Japan, from ¥1,320 to ¥2,310: Face Powder Z (Oil Block) (フェイスパウダーZ オイルブロック) for shine control, Face Powder Z in Glow or Semi-Matte, Smooth Fit Pressed Powder, and Jelly Powder and Jelly Colour Powder. See our KATE powder guide.

Setting Spray
KATE’s setting spray is Make Top Coat (メイクトップコート, ¥1,540, 80 mL), a mist that KATE says dries into a film over makeup to keep it from wearing off in heat and humidity. In Japan it is sold only at Matsumoto Kiyoshi and Cocokara Fine. See our KATE setting spray guide.

KATE also sells makeup brushes, from ¥1,320 to ¥1,980, for powder, foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, eyebrow, eyeliner and shading; in Japan they are sold only at Matsumoto Kiyoshi and Cocokara Fine. Outside makeup, the range includes Nail Enamel Color N (¥396, 16 colours) with a matching top coat and base coat, and hair makeup such as Real Hair Faker Duo (¥1,650) for filling in the hairline and Bangs Keep Fixer (¥1,078) for holding fringes in place.
Why KATE Is So Popular
KATE is popular because it focuses on makeup that lasts. Many of its products are built around staying power: Lip Monster, which KATE says keeps its just-applied colour, several waterproof liners and mascaras, Poreless Keeper and Face Powder Z for shine, and Make Top Coat, which KATE says helps makeup last in heat and humidity. KATE also offers wide colour ranges at drugstore prices, such as The Eye Color’s 108 shades at ¥715 each.
Many KATE products are designed with heat, sweat and sebum in mind. KATE says, for example, that Make Top Coat holds up in high heat and humidity, that Face Powder Z (Oil Block) absorbs excess sebum, and that Rare Paint Foundation N is waterproof.

If the product you want isn’t in our catalog, search Japanese stores or marketplaces for its Japanese name, for example ケイト リップモンスター, ケイト ザ アイカラー or ケイト メイクトップコート. Paste the product URL into kachishop to get an instant quote with duties included and no request fee. This works for web-only shades and store-exclusive items too, as long as they are listed on a Japanese store or marketplace.
