Kuromi’s birthday falls on 31 October, which puts her at the centre of Japan’s Halloween season. September 2026 was the run-up: drugstores, a discount chain, a clothing chain and a souvenir maker all released their own Kuromi items, and Sanrio’s Halloween lottery landed in the konbini. Almost none of it reaches Sanrio’s stores outside Japan.

This guide lists every Japan-exclusive Kuromi release announced by Sanrio for September 2026, with the release date, where it’s sold and the prices the brands published. At the end, we explain how to get them if you live outside Japan.

Why These Kuromi Collabs Never Reach Sanrio Stores Abroad

Nearly everything here is a licensed product. Sanrio licenses Kuromi to a Japanese company, that company manufactures the goods and sells them through its own stores. The collection belongs to Don Quijote, to Isehan’s rivals in the drugstore aisle or to a Nagoya souvenir maker rather than to Sanrio, so it never enters the catalog that Sanrio’s regional stores draw from.

Sanrio’s own online stores are split by region and each ships only within its own area. The one store that ships from Japan to other countries carries a much smaller catalog and doesn’t stock retailer collaborations. For the wider picture, see our guide to Japan-exclusive Sanrio merchandise, plus our roundups of Hello Kitty and Pompompurin releases from the same month.

Seasonal timing adds a second limit. Halloween goods are produced once, sold for a few weeks and then gone, and the Japanese online stores that carry them deliver within Japan only.

Kobe Fugetsudo is a Japanese confectioner known for gaufres, thin wafer biscuits with a cream filling, sold in decorated tins. For Halloween it put My Melody and Kuromi in costume on a mini tin at ¥648 for six wafers, with a Hello Kitty tin at the same price and a set containing both at ¥1,296. It’s sold at Kobe Fugetsudo stores across Japan, on the maker’s Japanese online shop and at a number of Sanrio shops.

The Charm Lift is a warming gua sha device for face and body that combines EMS, heat and vibration, and the Kuromi design returned on 10 September as a limited-quantity reissue after selling well last year. It costs ¥4,378, and it’s small and light enough to travel with. This one is sold at Don Quijote stores nationwide rather than at beauty retailers.

The Kuromi versions are the White Purple toothpaste at ¥1,738 and the matching dental rinse at ¥1,078, alongside Hello Kitty and My Melody designs. The general release was 12 September at drugstores across Japan, after an early run at some Loft and PLAZA stores, in limited quantities.

Don Quijote Kuromi Streetwear

Don Quijote is Japan’s best-known discount chain, and this subculture-leaning line is exclusive to its stores. The Kuromi range runs to seven pieces in two colourways each: a layered-look long sleeve tee with chain and a shoulder-zip sweatshirt at ¥4,399, a logo long sleeve tee and cargo pants at ¥4,399 and ¥3,299, a track jacket and an eared full-zip hoodie at ¥5,499, and shorts at ¥3,299. Each piece comes with an original hanger, and the rollout started on 12 September.

Kodansha’s Sanrio picture book series added a Kuromi volume, Kuromi no Ehon Saiko no Jibun, in which Kuromi gives her own hints on becoming your best self. It costs ¥1,650 and is aimed at adults as much as children, which makes it a common gift in Japan. It’s on sale at bookstores and online bookshops across Japan.

Happy Kuji is a lottery where every ticket wins a prize, and the Halloween 2026 edition dresses the Sanrio cast, Kuromi included, in punk rock outfits in black. Prizes include metallic-painted figures and chain pouches, and a ticket costs ¥880. The rollout began on 18 September at Lawson, FamilyMart, bookstores and hobby shops across Japan, and you can’t choose which prize you get.

ANNA SUI mini × KUROMI

ANNA SUI mini is the kids’ line of the fashion brand, and this collection combines the label’s butterfly and rose motifs with Kuromi, including matching pieces for parent and child. The fur blouson is ¥30,800 in white or lavender, the rhinestone sweatshirt is ¥15,180 for kids and ¥16,280 in the ladies’ size, and the flare pants are ¥17,380. It rolled out from 19 September at ANNA SUI mini stores and on Narumiya Online, with stock varying by store.

sanrio house is Sanrio’s own grown-up lifestyle label, and its new cosmetics line launched on 24 September. The Dreamy Pallet is a four-colour eyeshadow palette in four designs, one of them Kuromi, alongside My Sweet Piano, Hello Kitty and My Melody. It’s sold in only two physical stores, at Lumine Shinjuku 2 in Tokyo and LUCUA Osaka, plus the brand’s Japanese online store, and prices weren’t published in the announcement.

Avail Kuromi Project

© 2026 SANRIO CO., LTD. / Avail

Avail, the sister chain of Shimamura, built a whole campaign around Kuromi’s 31 October birthday, launching on 26 September. The highlight is a costume art series in which Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Hangyodon and others dress up as Kuromi. It’s sold at Avail stores and on Shimamura Park from noon on release day, and the announcement didn’t list prices.

Nagoyajo × Kuromi Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

© 2026 SANRIO CO., LTD. / Momonoyakata

This is the hardest item here to find, because it’s a regional souvenir. Nagoyajo is a Nagoya confection, and the Kuromi edition is themed on Kuromi taking a trip to Nagoya, with a package showing her enjoying the city’s famous breakfast culture. A box holds 12 chocolate sandwich cookies plus one of four limited cards, one of them secret, at ¥1,188. It’s sold at selected shops inside Nagoya Station, with Chubu Centrair airport and other souvenir stands following from early October.

Don Quijote Pastel Leopard Car Items

This five-piece car accessory series exists in a Kuromi version and a Hello Kitty version, sold only at Don Quijote group stores. It covers a multi pocket at ¥1,980, a dust box and a multi tray at ¥1,870 each, a neck pillow at ¥2,420 and a cushion at ¥2,530. We covered the same series in our Hello Kitty roundup; the timing shifts slightly from store to store.

How to Buy Japan-Exclusive Kuromi Goods From Outside Japan

Order From the kachicollect Catalog

kachicollect is a Japan-based shop that only carries products made for the Japanese market, so the easiest place to start is the catalog itself. It already lists Japan-only Sanrio items, including the Hello Kitty charms and die-cut stickers sold through Yamato Transport’s Japanese shop and the Coleman × HELLO KITTY tote and pouch that come with the October issue of InRed, alongside Japanese beauty, snacks and tea.

You pay the listed price plus shipping, with no proxy fees, and the total including duties is shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is in your local currency by Visa, Mastercard or JCB, so you don’t need a Japanese address or card, and orders ship worldwide with tracking in about 7 to 14 days. Our roundup of the latest character magazine gifts shows what else comes out of the Japanese market each month.

Request Anything That Isn’t in the Catalog

Most of the September releases above are tied to one Japanese chain, one publisher or one city, so they won’t be in the catalog. If you want one of them, send us the product link from a Japanese marketplace and you’ll get an instant quote, then buy it directly on kachicollect with no service fees. The same applies to anything else you find, including listings on Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions.

eBay

Japan-exclusive Kuromi items turn up on eBay soon after release, usually at a reseller markup that grows with how fast the item sold out. Halloween goods and lottery prizes attract the steepest markups because the window is short, and counterfeit Sanrio products are common enough that listing photos alone aren’t proof. Check the seller’s feedback and ask for photos of the actual item, its tags and its packaging.

Amazon

Amazon is the other default, but limited-run chain collaborations rarely reach it. What you find is usually listed by third-party sellers rather than the brand, which means a markup and no guarantee the item is genuine. Stock also disappears quickly once the Japanese release sells out.

Tips Before You Buy

Halloween goods have a short window. Several items here are seasonal designs produced once, so waiting until late October usually means paying resale prices.

The lottery is random. A Happy Kuji ticket always wins something, but you can’t pick the prize. If you want one specific figure, buying it individually second-hand is more reliable.

Regional souvenirs stay regional. The Nagoyajo cookies are sold inside Nagoya Station and nearby, not nationwide, which is exactly why they’re hard to find abroad.

Check the sizing on apparel. The Don Quijote streetwear and the ANNA SUI mini pieces are cut to Japanese sizes, and the ANNA SUI mini range is mostly children’s sizing with a few adult pieces.

Remember that Japanese online stores stay in Japan. Shimamura Park, sanrio house and the other shops on this list deliver within Japan only.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Kuromi’s birthday?

31 October, which is why Japanese retailers cluster their Kuromi releases around Halloween. September is when most of those collections go on sale.

Can I buy Don Quijote Kuromi items from outside Japan?

Not from the chain itself, since Don Quijote sells these in its Japanese stores. You can still get them by sending us the product link on kachicollect.

Why aren’t these on the Sanrio global store?

They’re licensed products made by Japanese companies for their own stores, so they don’t enter the catalog that Sanrio’s regional online stores sell from. Sanrio’s stores outside Japan carry their own separate ranges.

Are Kuromi and My Melody released together?

Often, yes. Several September collaborations, including the EUTHYMOL oral care and the Kobe Fugetsudo tins, pair the two characters in the same lineup, so buying one sometimes means the other design exists too.

Conclusion

September 2026 shows how Kuromi’s calendar works in Japan. Her birthday and Halloween fall on the same day, so the drugstores, the discount chains and the clothing chains all line up their Kuromi collections in the weeks before, sell them through Japanese stores and stop when the season ends.

The simplest way in is the kachicollect catalog. It already carries a wide range of Japan-only products, so you can browse and pick rather than hunt, and anything that isn’t listed can be requested with a link. You pay the item price plus shipping with no proxy fees, see the total including duties before checkout, and first-time customers can use the code WELCOME20 for 20% off.
