My Melody’s September was defined by one collaboration. Ladurée, the Parisian pâtisserie, put her in a pastry chef’s uniform for a collection sold only in Japan, complete with an early run at Isetan Shinjuku and an afternoon tea in Hibiya. Around it sat a dozen smaller releases, from drugstore toothpaste to pet toys to a kabuki guidebook.

This guide lists every Japan-exclusive My Melody release announced by Sanrio for September 2026, with the release date, where it’s sold and the prices the brands published. At the end, we explain how to get them if you live outside Japan.

Why These My Melody Collabs Never Reach Sanrio Stores Abroad

Nearly everything here is a licensed product. Sanrio licenses My Melody to a company operating in Japan, that company manufactures the goods and sells them through its own channels. The collection belongs to Ladurée Japan, to Gakken or to Don Quijote rather than to Sanrio, so it never enters the catalog that Sanrio’s regional stores draw from. Ladurée is a French house, but this collection was made for its Japanese stores.

Sanrio’s own online stores are split by region and each ships only within its own area. The one store that ships from Japan to other countries carries a much smaller catalog and doesn’t stock retailer collaborations. For the wider picture, see our guide to Japan-exclusive Sanrio merchandise, plus our roundups of Hello Kitty, Pompompurin and Kuromi releases from the same month.

A few of these are also tied to one city or one department store floor, which narrows things further, and the Japanese online stores that carry them deliver within Japan only.

It’s sold at Meitetsu Shoten and other official licence shops, plus souvenir stands at expressways, stations and airports in the Tokai region, which makes it a regional item rather than a national one.

Ladurée × My Melody Collection

This is the release of the month. Ladurée, the Parisian house that popularised the double-decker macaron, put My Melody in a pâtissière’s outfit for a collection made for its Japanese stores. The tote bag is ¥5,280 in pink and ¥5,720 in ivory, and the almond pound cake tin is ¥4,968; every purchase comes with a limited shopper bag. The general release was 18 September at Ladurée and Café Ladurée stores in Japan and the Ladurée online boutique, after reservations opened on 4 September and an early run at Isetan Shinjuku from 8 to 13 September.

The collection also includes macaron boxes at ¥4,320 for six and ¥5,616 for eight, but macarons are a short-shelf-life fresh confection sold for eating in Japan, so treat those as an in-store purchase rather than something to ship. Separately, the Ladurée Hibiya salon de thé is running a My Melody afternoon tea from 18 September to 26 November, with a My Melody parfait at ¥2,970 and a cappuccino at ¥1,980.

Prizes include metallic-painted figures and chain pouches, and a ticket costs ¥880. The Dreamy Pallet is a four-colour eyeshadow palette in four designs, one of them My Melody, alongside Kuromi, My Sweet Piano and Hello Kitty. It’s sold in only two physical stores, at Lumine Shinjuku 2 in Tokyo and LUCUA Osaka, plus the brand’s Japanese online store, and prices weren’t published in the announcement.

Avail Kuromi Project

© 2026 SANRIO CO., LTD. / Avail

Avail, the sister chain of Shimamura, built a campaign around Kuromi’s 31 October birthday, launching on 26 September, and My Melody appears in the costume art series where the other characters dress up as Kuromi. It’s sold at Avail stores and on Shimamura Park from noon on release day, and the announcement didn’t list prices. Our Kuromi roundup covers the campaign in full.

This clip-on air freshener is exclusive to Don Quijote group stores, and the new Turntable design looks like a record: the filter spins when air from the car vent hits it, releasing a pure musk scent. It comes in five character designs including My Melody, at ¥1,628 for the unit with two filters, with a three-filter refill at ¥440. It went on sale in mid-September.

It’s sold at Kobe Fugetsudo stores across Japan, on the maker’s Japanese online shop and at a number of Sanrio shops.

This one is a book rather than merchandise: Learn With Sanrio Characters: Kabuki for Beginners, published by Gakken at ¥1,540, with the characters dressed as kabuki actors guiding each chapter. My Melody leads the character lineup, and the book is aimed at readers planning their first time at the theatre. It’s on sale at bookstores across Japan, on Shop Gakken+ and at online bookshops.

How to Buy Japan-Exclusive My Melody Goods From Outside Japan

Order From the kachicollect Catalog

kachicollect is a Japan-based shop that only carries products made for the Japanese market, so the easiest place to start is the catalog itself. It already lists Japan-only Sanrio items, including the Hello Kitty charms and die-cut stickers sold through Yamato Transport’s Japanese shop and the Coleman × HELLO KITTY tote and pouch that come with the October issue of InRed, alongside Japanese beauty, snacks and tea.

You pay the listed price plus shipping, with no proxy fees, and the total including duties is shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is in your local currency by Visa, Mastercard or JCB, so you don’t need a Japanese address or card, and orders ship worldwide with tracking in about 7 to 14 days. Our roundup of the latest character magazine gifts shows what else the Japanese market puts out each month.

Request Anything That Isn’t in the Catalog

Most of the September releases above are tied to one Japanese chain, one brand’s own store or one region, so they won’t be in the catalog. If you want one of them, send us the product link from a Japanese marketplace and you’ll get an instant quote, then buy it directly on kachicollect with no service fees. The same applies to anything else you find, including listings on Mercari and Yahoo! Auctions.

eBay

Japan-exclusive My Melody items appear on eBay soon after release, usually at a reseller markup that grows with how fast the item sold out. The Ladurée pieces and the lottery prizes are the most marked up, and counterfeit Sanrio goods are common enough that listing photos alone aren’t proof. Check the seller’s feedback and ask for photos of the actual item, its tags and its packaging.

Amazon

Amazon is the other default, but limited-run chain collaborations rarely reach it. What you find is usually listed by third-party sellers rather than the brand, which means a markup and no guarantee the item is genuine. Stock also disappears quickly once the Japanese release sells out.

Tips Before You Buy

Separate the keepsakes from the food. The Ladurée tote and the sealed cake tin travel fine, but the macarons and the afternoon tea are in-store only, and the same goes for chilled sweets in general.

Regional items stay regional. The Asian Games range is sold around Aichi and Nagoya, and the sanrio house cosmetics exist in two shops in Tokyo and Osaka, so these are the hardest two to find secondhand.

Two items are random. The Poppin Cider figure and the Happy Kuji prize are both blind. If you want the My Melody design specifically, buying it individually second-hand is more reliable.

Watch the early-release dates. Ladurée opened reservations on 4 September and sold at Isetan Shinjuku from 8 September, well before the general release, and popular pieces can be gone by then.

Remember that Japanese online stores stay in Japan. The Ladurée online boutique, Shimamura Park and the other shops on this list deliver within Japan only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Ladurée × My Melody collection sold outside Japan?

The collection was made for Ladurée’s Japanese stores and its Japanese online boutique, which deliver within Japan. If you want a piece, send us the link and you can order it through kachicollect.

Can I buy Don Quijote My Melody items from outside Japan?

Not from the chain itself, since Don Quijote sells these in its Japanese stores. You can still get them by sending us the product link on kachicollect.

Why aren’t these on the Sanrio global store?

They’re licensed products made for Japanese stores, so they don’t enter the catalog that Sanrio’s regional online stores sell from. Sanrio’s stores outside Japan carry their own separate ranges.

Are My Melody and Kuromi released together?

Often, yes. Several September releases, including the EUTHYMOL toothpaste and the Kobe Fugetsudo tins, put the two in the same lineup, so buying one usually means the other design exists as well.

Conclusion

September 2026 gave My Melody one headline collaboration and a long tail behind it. Ladurée built a full collection around her for its Japanese stores, and a drugstore brand, a discount chain, a publisher and a regional souvenir maker each added something of their own. All of it sells through stores in Japan that ship within Japan.

The simplest way in is the kachicollect catalog. It already carries a wide range of Japan-only products, so you can browse and pick rather than hunt, and anything that isn’t listed can be requested with a link. You pay the item price plus shipping with no proxy fees, see the total including duties before checkout, and first-time customers can use the code WELCOME20 for 20% off.
