- l-Menthol (3.25 g per 100 g) and mint oil (0.35 g) — Analgesic, anti-inflammatory actives that also give the refreshing medicinal scent.
- dl-Camphor (2.51 g per 100 g) and thymol (0.05 g) — Supporting actives in the plaster.
- Nonylic acid vanillylamide (0.03 g per 100 g) — Warming ingredient that gives the characteristic hot, spicy sensation and promotes blood circulation.
Texture & scent
Small round beige plasters on a water-resistant rayon cloth with a strong adhesive. They give a distinctly hot, tingling warming sensation and carry a menthol and mint medicinal scent.

The Roihi plaster brand dates back to 1932. Roihi-Tsuboko was launched regionally in 1989 and the 156-patch box went nationwide in 1991, making it a drugstore fixture for over three decades.
How to use
Find the exact point that aches or feels stiff, peel a patch off its film and press it on. Several patches can be clustered over a very stiff area. Replace when the warming sensation fades.
Cautions
Do not bathe with the patches on; remove them 30 minutes to 1 hour before bathing. Using them together with heating devices such as a kotatsu, heated carpet, hand warmer or electric blanket can intensify the stimulation. Pregnant, possibly pregnant or nursing users should consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller before use.
